Hokie Wellness, Rec Sports, Cook Counseling are offering health and wellness workshops and events to students and employees located at the VTC campus in Roanoke for the 2018-2019 school year. Below are the Fall 2018 and Spring 2019 Wellness Programs.

Fall 2018

September 10, 12:15 - 12:30 p.m. - Mindfulness with Laurie Seidel

  • Koru mindfulness practice for individuals interested in exploring the restorative benefits of mindfulness practice. No experience necessary.

October 9, 7:30 a.m. - 2 p.m. - Hokie Wellness Flu Vaccination Clinic

  • To help students, employees, and community members avoid getting the flu this fall and winter, Virginia Tech is offering a flu vaccination clinics in October and November across campuses. Walk-ins welcome, please make sure to bring your insurance card or VTCRI coupon.

  • This class will cover what happens cognitively and physically when you sleep. We’ll do sleep assessments so you can learn how to change your sleep habits now and start reaping the benefits of great sleep. Lunch provided; space limited to first 15 who register.

  • Come play with the Therapets therapy dogs and grab a couple of slices of pizza. This event has been a favorite at VTC since its first year.

January 1 - March 16 - Fitness Challenge


February 12, 3- 5 p.m. - WellFest

  • Show yourself some love with free chair massages, therapy dogs, healthy snacks, a mindfulness station, neat giveaways and useful info from wellness vendors. Share the love and bring your friends!

April - Bystander Training

  • Sexual harassment and sexual assault are crimes many students seek to prevent. VT offers a research supported program to students titled, “Bringing in the Bystander”. The program offers techniques and strategies to help intercede during moments in time when a threat of harm is possible and/or likely. All students are welcome to register and attend. Space is limited to 30 students. If we exceed capacity, additional trainings will be offered.

May 9, 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. - Hokie Wellness May Extravaganza

  • Gather outside for a mid-afternoon stress break!
