Recovery

Interest Groups provide opportunities for employees to connect, share experiences, and engage in activities they are passionate about.

They serve as a platform for employees to come together and foster connections both within the workplace and the wider community. Most groups are independent initiatives and are not affiliated with or endorsed by Virginia Tech. Any Virginia Tech-affiliated groups are open to all employees. Additionally, some groups may have fees associated with membership.

The Employee Recovery Interest Group is open to those in recovery of any kind (not just substance use). The group has no official affiliation with Virginia Tech and does not follow any particular methodology (AA, NA, etc.). We have found that sharing our respective and overlapping experiences and lessons in healing, as well as our shared involvement in the VT community, has been helpful to each of us on our journeys. We would like to share this opportunity with anyone who would benefit from it, and to invite your input - toward a goal of always improving!

We believe that privacy is a crucial aspect of recovery. As such, we are conscious of, and attend to, the privacy of group participants as much as we possibly can, with the understanding that this is still an open group involving members of an interconnected employee community.

The group is currently actively recruiting participants, although it is temporarily on hiatus from meeting while we re-evaluate our structure, mission, and vision for the future. If you would like to become involved, please don't hesitate to reach out.
