Annie Chalmers-WIlliams, LCSW, CAADC

Assistant Director, Substance Misuse

Annie received her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Visual Arts, with a minor in Women and Gender Studies from Elon University. She completed her Education Certificate at UNC Asheville and her Master’s degree in Advanced Generalist Social Work from Western Carolina University. Prior to working at Virginia Tech, Annie worked as a therapist in group Private Practice, served in tribal mental health and addiction treatment in Indian Health Services, and taught primary and high school art classes.

Currently, Annie works in Hokie Wellness as the Assistant Director of Substance Misuse Prevention. She assists as co-supervisor of the IMPACT Peer Education Team, facilitates workshops, events, and outreach that aim to teach students harm-reduction skills around safer alcohol use.

Annie is passionate about promoting student wellbeing, inclusiveness, and making genuine connections with others. In her free time, she loves to create mixed media art, hike, read, watch movies, and spend time with her husband, son, and dogs.
