Mindfulness

We know that spaces for students and professionals to connect with others, learn, pause, & care for their emotional well-being are vital. Now, more than ever, it is important to take moments throughout each day to breathe and be mindful.

Don't hesitate to contact colleenmd@vt.edu with any questions or concerns regarding mindfulness programming. We look forward to connecting with you soon!

Mindfulness & Meditation

Mindful Campus Practices are a series of brief 5 minute guided meditations that use a combination of imagery and your 5 senses to help you tap into the present and cultivate more mindful moments throughout your day. These practices can help Hokies feel more connected to campus regardless of where you physically are by using the audio and/or video for these recordings.

In this 5 minute guided loving-kindness meditation, we will try to cultivate kindness, non-judgment, and compassion to direct towards ourselves. Fostering self-compassion through meditation can help us quiet our inner critic, help improve our relationship with our body, and help us strengthen our sense of intrinsic self-worth.

The first step towards emotional awareness is developing the ability to identify and describe how you are feeling and why. The Atlas of Emotions is an interactive tool that can help with developing a nuanced understanding of different emotional states and building emotional vocabulary.

Hear from Fellow Hokies

Real Conversations with Hokies is a video series where fellow Hokies and recent alumni talk about their experiences with their first days on campus, how to ask for help, finding a sense of belonging, and general words of wisdom.
