At Hokie Wellness, professional staff, student peer educators, and employee ambassadors work together to teach programs, do outreach, and promote a campus atmosphere that integrates wellness in all aspects of life.

Professional Staff

Our professional staff offer a variety of educational services and work to provide programming and resources which will enhance the health and well-being of all Hokies. They develop and manage the various programs and events hosted by Hokie Wellness, as well as the peer education programs that we offer.

HEAT Peer Educators

The Health Education & Awareness Team (HEAT) is a group of students trained by the health educators at Hokie Wellness to deliver fun, interactive, and educational health and wellness programs to student groups throughout the campus community.

IMPACT Peer Educators

The IMPACT Peer Education and Prevention Team is an integral part of Hokie Wellness. The goal of this group is to create an effective peer network that promotes the Party Positive message, works to positively change the campus and community environment and culture, and supports fellow Hokies through judgment-free substance misuse prevention outreach and education.

Financial Wellness Peer Educators

Financial Wellness Peer Educators are trained on major aspects of personal financial management (budgeting, credit, student loans, financial planning/goal setting, and banking terminology) in addition to identifying campus resources for students to save money.

Mental Health Initiatives Team

The Mental Health Initiatives Team is a team of trained graduate-level students who facilitate educational workshops and outreach about mental health and emotional well-being. The goals of the MHI team are to normalize mental health struggles and to help students learn tools/strategies to care for their emotional wellness.

FEELS Peer Support Circle Facilitators

FEELS facilitators are undergraduate or graduate students who will use ongoing training, supervision, & lived experiences to support their peers. They facilitate mental health peer support groups by fostering an atmosphere of empathy and connection.

Hokie Wellness Champions

Virginia Tech Hokie Wellness Champions are employee volunteers that are instrumental in supporting Hokie Wellness by promoting well-being programs to departments, colleagues, and friends on campus. Our goal is to create a group that represents our expansive and diverse Virginia Tech community.

Any Virginia Tech employee is invited to submit an application to become a Wellness Champion. Employees interested in becoming Champions must have a passion for wellness, be willing to volunteer their time and have approval and support from their supervisor.
