Discounted Weight Watchers Programs Available to State Employees
The Commonwealth of Virginia and Weight Watchers are committed to helping Virginia Tech employees achieve their weight-loss goals and improve overall health by offering two options to employees: the monthly pass and the online subscription.
There are currently two Weight Watchers @ Work meetings available on campus. Both are held at lunch time from noon to 12:45 p.m., one in the Student Services Building, on Washington Street, in room 230 on Tuesday, the other at the North End Center, on Turner St., room 3600, on Wednesday.
Employees can purchase monthly memberships to Weight Watchers. Special pricing is available for Commonwealth of Virginia employees. The cost for monthly memberships is now $38.22 and may be paid by credit card, debit card, or PayPal. (Monthly pass automatically renews each month until canceled by the member.)
There is a weekly Weight Watchers at Work meeting every Wednesday in the North End Center. Weigh-in is at noon and the meeting begins at 12:15 p.m. If interested in joining Weight Watchers attend one of these weekly meetings anytime or contact Hokie Wellness.
To start a workplace meeting, 15 people are still required; however, meetings will continue monthly when an average of eight members attends each week. In addition to the monthly workplace meetings, the Monthly Pass also provides members the convenience of attending unlimited meetings in the community, as well as free eTools, Weight Watchers’ internet weight loss companion.
Weight Watchers online subscription allows individuals to follow the plan entirely online with interactive tools and resources. It is also available in two versions specifically designed for men and women. The monthly cost for the online subscription is now $16.96. (The online subscription automatically renews each month until canceled by the member.)
Registration is available online or by telephone (866-204-2885) for both options. Use company ID 63569 and passcode WW63569. For those registering for a workplace meeting, employees may select the location of choice for a workplace meeting.
Employees who are eligible to enroll in a state health plan, such as COVA Care, are still eligible for the 50 percent reimbursement as long as participation criteria below are met:
- Monthly pass: Attend at least nine meetings out of 12 weeks (limit three times a year)
- Online subscription: Submit weight trackers and accounts status page after every 10-weeks or more of participation. Reimbursements are limited to three times a year.
The reimbursement form is available online. Virginia Tech is agency 208. The reimbursement process may take several weeks.
