Roanoke Health Science and Technology Campus

Hokie Wellness, Rec Sports, and Cook Counseling are offering health and wellness workshops and events to students and employees located at the VTC campus in Roanoke for the 2020-2021 school year. Please note that some of these events may be virtual!

Gainsboro History 5K Tour

Developed by the VTC Wellness Team which is comprised of representatives from the Roanoke Graduate Student Association, The Fralin Biomedical Research Institute at VTC, the VTC School of Medicine, and the Welcoming Roanoke Campaign.

The Gainsboro History 5K Tour has officially started and will run until October 15th (5 weeks for 5K)! You do not have to sign up to do the 5K, but to be eligible for prizes you must submit the checklist form at the bottom of the 5K webpage before October 15th. The self-guided 5K walk/run blends an opportunity to learn about Roanoke's critical history – with diversity and inclusion focus – while connecting it with wellness (mental & physical health) for our participants.

To be eligible for prizes, you must submit the checklist form at the bottom of the 5K webpage. Participants who complete the route will be eligible for prizes including gift cards to Black owned businesses and books by Black authors. The first 40 participants to complete the checkpoint submission form will be given a glass donated by VT Rec Sports.

If you missed the Roanoke Black History Panel Discussion on September 14th the recording is available.
