Hokie Wellness, in partnership with Warm Hearth Village, will be providing a full day symposium for employees and their family members.  The symposium will help employees who are caring for an elderly loved one now, or in the future, and for those that are preparing their own long term care plans.

The symposium will be held on Wednesday, May 23, from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. at The Village Center at Warm Hearth Village, 2387 Warm Hearth Drive, Blacksburg.

What is elder care?

Elder care is the fulfillment of the special needs and requirements that are unique to senior citizens. It emphasizes the social and personal requirements of senior citizens who need some assistance with daily activities and health care, but who desire to age with dignity.

When caregivers are family members, there are many things they need to know, including information about taking care of themselves as they take on this role.

The symposium will provide information and resources on some of the topics and issues that caregivers face and provide answers and solutions.

Registration is open for the full day symposium or for individual sessions until May 15. A light lunch will be served for those who register for the full day symposium.
