May is Older Americans Month and Hokie Wellness will once again honor our older citizens by hosting an Elder Care Symposium presented by Warm Hearth Village and theDepartment of Human Resources on Wednesday, May 25 at the Biocomplexity Institute of Virginia Tech (formerly VBI).

Elder care is the fulfillment of the special needs and requirements that are unique to senior citizens. It emphasizes the social and personal requirements of senior citizens who need some assistance with daily activities and health care, but who desire to age with dignity.

However, when the caregivers are family members, there are many things that the family needs to know about care giving and about taking care of themselves as caregivers. This symposium will provide information and resources on some of the topics and issues that caregivers face along with answers and solutions.

Individuals may sign up for all day or individual sessions, online registration is required.

The event schedule for next year will be posted in early spring 2017.
